In the third T20I against West Indies, Moeen Ali took over as captain in place of regular captain Eoin Morgan, who was injured.
West Indies beat England by 20 runs on Wednesday, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20 series. Rovman Powell hit 10 sixes among his 107 runs from 53 balls. After Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle, he became the third West Indian to score a T20I century. (Learn More About Cricket)
Powell, who was brought in to replace Odean Smith, was instrumental in the home side’s 224-run total, with Nicholas Pooran hitting 70 off 43 deliveries. England finished with a score of 202-9.
With a 39-ball 73, Tom Banton gave England hope of completing its third-highest chase ever, but his dismissal left the tourists needing 96 from 45 deliveries before Phil Salt saved their faint hopes.
Salt, along with George Garton and Harry Brook, was one of three T20 debutants, reducing the equation to 36 in an over by flaying the first two deliveries for six en route to a 22-ball 50 before being bowled.
England was captained by Moeen Ali due to Eoin Morgan’s minor quad injury. The final two games will be played in Bridgetown on Saturday and Sunday.
