Details on The Volkswagen Amarok’s Platform

Volkswagen has started work on an electric-only version of the Amarok through its Global Alliance partnership with Ford. The VW pickup truck will continue to use the same body-on-frame chassis as the fourth-generation Ford Ranger, which is set to get an electric version, as previously reported. Official sources, however, suggest that, unlike the Ranger, the new electric Amarok will not be equipped with a petrol-hybrid powertrain.

The German manufacturer made this decision in order to focus on expanding the electric range. The Amarok’s Ford-developed chassis, according to Volkswagen, can accommodate the electric drivetrain and battery pack. The EV pickup truck’s official production timeline has not been confirmed, but it’s likely that it will be built alongside the new Volkswagen ID Buzz at the company’s manufacturing headquarters in Hanover, Germany.

Volkswagen’s India Strategy

The German automaker is preparing to launch the new Virtus premium midsize sedan alongside the current Taigun SUV as part of its India 2.0 strategy. VW currently offers the Tiguan in India, as the T-Roc is sold out. The ID.4 is also being considered as the company’s first electric vehicle.
