Unveiling of The 2022 Honda City Hybrid e:HEV for India

The Honda City e:HEV in 2022 will feature a full-hybrid powertrain with a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5 kilometers per liter.

Honda has unveiled the 2022 City e:HEV for India, which now boasts cutting-edge technology aimed at increasing efficiency. The premium sedan is powered by an all-new hybrid system that could compete with the most fuel-efficient hatchbacks. Honda has also begun taking reservations for the new City hybrid.

Honda City e:HEV 2022: 1.5-Liter Gasoline Engine with Full Hybrid Technology

Honda has fitted the new City with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine mated to two electric motors. The first electric motor serves as a generator, while the second serves as a propulsion motor. The midsize sedan’s engine has been programmed to operate at a peak efficiency of around 2,000rpm, in addition to having a battery pack in the trunk.

The City Hybrid, according to Honda, will have a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5 kpl, making it the most fuel-efficient car in its class. The City e:1.5-litre HEV’s engine produces 98 horsepower without electrical assistance and 109 horsepower with it. The engine and electric motors together produce a maximum combined torque output of 253Nm, according to Honda. The City e:HEV is a strong hybrid thanks to this setup, which allows it to run on electric power alone in short bursts in start/stop situations.

The new City Hybrid comes with a three-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty as well as an eight-year warranty on the lithium-ion battery as standard. Customers will also be able to upgrade their warranty to a 5 year/unlimited km or a 10 year/120,000km plan.

Honda Sensing Technology will be Available on The Honda City e:HEV in 2022

As we recently reported, the new City Hybrid follows in the footsteps of other manufacturers and includes ADAS as well as adaptive cruise control. The package, dubbed the Honda Sensing suite, includes lane-keeping assist and autonomous emergency braking. These safety technologies will improve the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.

Honda City e:HEV Features and Design for 2022

The new Honda City hybrid’s exterior features new blue-line Honda badges, e:HEV badging on the tailgate, new fog light garnish, new rear bumper diffuser design, and a boot lid spoiler, among other changes.

The City hybrid gets an updated 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an eight-speaker premium sound system, ambient lighting, an electric sunroof, and an updated version of Honda Connect with Amazon Echo, Google Assistant, and smartwatch (iOS and Android) integration on the inside.

Six airbags, Honda lane-watch, a multi-angle rear-view camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TMPS), vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, and ISOFIX-compatible rear seats are all standard features on the new City hybrid.

Honda City e:HEV 2022: Release Date, Competitors

The sedan features class-leading hybrid technology as well as active safety features not found in any of its competitors. When the City hybrid goes on sale in early May, expect it to be slightly more expensive than its competitors.

The City hybrid will compete against the Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI variants due to its higher price. On the other hand, the regular City sedan competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna.
