UGC Scholarship Programs: Today is the Last day to Apply for Scholarships, and there are 17,000 Seats Available

UGC Scholarship Program: The UGC offers four different scholarship programmes for different types of students. There are a total of 17000 slots available. Today is the last day to submit an application.

On November 30, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will finish the registration process for its four scholarship schemes. Candidates who have not yet applied for UGC scholarships should do so before the deadline expires today.

UGC Ishan Uday Special Scheme for North East Region, PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders, and PG SC, ST Scholarship Scheme are the four UGC scholarships available. Interested and eligible candidates can register online for any of the four UGC Scholarship programmes by visiting the National Scholarship Portal’s (NSP) official website – scholarships.gov.in.

Ishan Uday Scholarship from the University Grants Commission

The UGC has decided to introduce the “Ishan Uday” Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region in order to improve the GER, promote higher education, and encourage youngsters from economically disadvantaged areas of the region.

  • 10,000 scholarships are available.

Eligibility

Students from NER whose parents’ yearly income from all sources does not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per year.

Passed XII or equivalent in the previous year of study, i.e. 2017 for applications due in the 2017-18 academic year.

Obtain admission to any degree programme in the first year, whether it is a general degree programme or a technical/professional/medical/paramedical programme (Integrated courses included).

Scholarship amount: Rs.5400 per month for a general degree programme and Rs.7800 per month for technical, medical, professional, and paramedical programmes.

Scholarship for a PG Single Girl Child from the University of Georgia
In order to achieve and promote girls’ education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has established a Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child with the goal of compensating direct costs of girl education at all levels, particularly for girls who are the only girl in their family.

Eligibility Criteria

Age limit: Female students must be under the age of 30 at the time of admission to the first year of a PG programme.

The initiative is for single girls who have enrolled in a regular, full-time first-year Masters Degree programme at any designated institution or post-graduate college.

The scheme does not support admission to a PG course via distance education.

University first- and second-year students who have enrolled in a regular, full-time master’s degree programme at any recognised university, deemed university, private university, autonomous institution, or postgraduate college are eligible to apply.

Fellowship amount: Rs.36,200/- per annum for a period of two years only, i.e. the entire duration of a PG programme. In lieu of lodging and medical fees, no other additional grant will be provided.

Scholarships for UGC University Rank Holders
The scholarship will be valid for two years and will allow undergraduate rank holders from each university to pursue their Master’s degree. All universities and degree-granting institutions would be required to offer rank certificates to the university’s top B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. students.
