Maruti Suzuki is going to launch its Maruti Fronx car in April. It will be based on the company’s Baleno hatchback and will come with more premium features. But Toyota has already made preparations to compete with Maruti Franks. If reports are to be believed, Toyota will launch an SUV in India called Taisor, which will be based on the Maruti Franks. It will be brought under the partnership between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. Toyota’s car is expected to be brought by mid-2023. In this, the front design matching Toyota’s design philosophy will be used.

Just like the front design like Grand Vitara is seen in Maruti Franks. Similarly, the front design of the Toyota Taisor might remind you of the company’s Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider. It will get a clamshell bonnet, bumper-mounted projector LED headlights, split-style DRL, blacked-out grille, skid plates, ORVMs, roof rails, wheel arches with black cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, there will be connected LED taillights, shark-fin antenna and a roof mounted spoiler.

The interiors will be kept similar to the Maruti Suzuki Franks. It will get dual-tone dashboard, leatherette upholstery, head-up display, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, multifunctional steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster and floating-type 9.0-inch touchscreen. For safety, there will be features like 6 airbags and 360 degree view camera.

Like the Fronx, the Toyota Taisor could also be offered with two engine options. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre “Boosterjet” turbo-petrol engine, which produces 99hp power and 147Nm torque. The other engine will be a 1.2-litre “DualJet” petrol, which will generate 89hp power and 113Nm torque. It will be mated to 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and AMT gearbox.
