In January 2019, Toyota launched the eighth-generation Camry in India. The model introduced a bolder design language for Toyota’s premium executive sedan, which was underpinned by the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. And the facelifted model stays true to the original design.

The front bumper has been reprofiled, and the wide grille is now flanked by chrome accents. For the 18-inch alloy wheels, there are new designs available. The LED tail lamps get new inserts at the back.

The cabin is familiar, with the most notable change being the replacement of the older 8-inch touchscreen with a 9-inch unit. Customers can also expect improved performance from the infotainment system thanks to new software on board, according to Toyota.

The hybrid system from the previous Camry is expected to be carried over to the facelifted model. As a result, it will feature a 2.5-litre petrol engine with 178 horsepower mated to a 120-horsepower permanent magnet synchronous motor for a total system output of 218 horsepower. A CVT gearbox will continue to handle gearbox duties.

The current Camry returns a claimed average of 23.27kpl with a hybrid system under the hood, and the upcoming model is expected to deliver a similar figure.
