Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a breakfast meeting with nearly 40 Uttar Pradesh MPs on December 17 at his 7 LKM residence in New Delhi, ahead of the 2022 General Assembly elections. According to sources, the meeting was non-political, with PM Modi declaring that he would “not discuss politics today.” The Prime Minister discussed MPs’ sports and interests, as well as the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which commemorates India’s 75th anniversary of independence.

Yogi Adityanath, speaking on the floor of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday, took a swipe at Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party’s push for socialism. Instead, he believes that the concept of a “Ram Rajya” is better suited to ensuring the poor’s welfare. To bolster his case, Adityanath cited the accomplishments of his administration as well as the BJP-led federal government led by Prime Minister Modi.

Swati Maliwal of DCW demands a FIR be filed against a Congress MLA over an obscene rape remark.

Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has demanded the arrest of senior Congress leader Ramesh Kumar for his insensitive rape remark in the Karnataka assembly. Maliwal, distraught over Kumar’s statement on Thursday, can be seen in a video shaming the Congress leader for saying that it should be fun when someone is being raped.

When confronted about his distasteful “enjoy rape” remark, Karnataka Congress MLA KR Ramesh Kumar lost control at Republic on Friday. Kumar repeatedly pushed the Republic TV microphone, claiming that ‘he has already answered what needed to be answered.’ He also insisted that he “did not owe an answer to the press.”

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Bhutan’s highest civilian decoration, the Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo. PM took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the warm gesture and thanked his Bhutanese counterpart Lotay Tshering. “Thank you for your kind words, Lyonchhen @PMBhutan!
