The Tata Safari Dark Edition Will be Released on January 17th

This is the fifth Tata model to receive the Dark Edition treatment.

The Tata Safari is the latest Tata model to get a Dark Edition, and the carmaker plans to release it on January 17th. The Safari will receive a number of cosmetic changes on the interior and exterior, similar to the other Dark Edition models.

  • The Safari Dark Edition will get all-black interiors and exteriors
  • Will use the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine
  • Expected to be around Rs 30,000 more expensive than equivalent trims

What to Expect From The Tata Safari Dark Edition in 2022

The Safari Dark Edition will be very similar to the Dark Editions of the Altroz, Nexon, Nexon EV, and Harrier in terms of updates. This means the Safari will be painted in a gloss black colour (possibly the same Oberon Black as the Harrier Dark Edition), with gloss black accents on the grille, headlight surrounds, and window surrounds – all of which are chrome on the standard model. The 18-inch alloy wheels will also be blacked out. The Tata and Dark Edition badges will be the only chrome on the Safari Dark Edition.

In terms of the interior, we can expect an all-black theme throughout the three-row SUV’s cabin. This will be a first for the Safari, as all of the SUV’s previous iterations, including the standard, Adventure, and Gold edition models, have had white or beige interiors.

The Safari Dark Edition will most likely be based on the higher XZ and XZ+ trims, so it will be well-equipped. 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple and Android connectivity, wireless charger, JBL audio system, 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, and leatherette seat upholstery are among the features available.

The new Safari Dark edition will be powered by the same 170 horsepower 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine found in the standard Safari. It will be available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, as it will be mechanically identical to the standard model.

Rivals and Expected Pricing for The Tata Safari Dark Edition in 2022

The Dark Edition, like the standard Safari, will face competition from the recently launched Mahindra XUV700, as well as the MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar. The Dark edition variants are expected to cost around Rs 30,000 more than the trim they are based on in terms of pricing (a similar mark-up to what we see on the Harrier Dark).
