The chairman of Sahara India, Subrata Rai, has been issued an arrest warrant by the Patna High Court. He was supposed to appear in the Patna High Court on Friday, but he never showed up. Angered by this, the Patna High Court has ordered Subrata Rai to be arrested and brought before the court by the DGPs of Bihar, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. During the last hearing on April 27, a single bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar ordered him to physically appear before the high court on May 11 and explain how he plans to return the money to the investors. Because he was unable to travel to Patna on May 11, the case was postponed until May 12.

The Patna High Court had asked Sahara India’s lawyer, Umesh Prasad Singh, to submit a detailed report on how Sahara India will return the money to Bihar’s investors during the hearing on April 27. Singh suggested some alternative ways to return the money to the investors in his response, but Justice Sandeep Kumar was uninterested.

He told the lawyer flatly that the court would not accept any more excuses from Subrata Roy. More than 2000 cases have been filed in the Patna High Court in relation to Sahara India’s alleged fraud. However, the actual number of people defrauded is in the millions. Many have already passed away.
