The BMW M3 Touring shares a lot of styling cues with the M3 sedan, but it has a 3 Series Touring-style body. The sharp rear bumper, as well as the four exhaust pipes that bookend a large diffuser, are carried over from the M3 sedan. Above the rear windscreen is a 3D-printed lip spoiler, with roof rails extending to the front.

The front of the car is visible in the video, though it is camouflaged. The bumpers, like the rear, are based on the standard M3, with a double kidney grille, bonnet bulges, and large intakes toward the edges.

Although flared arches, large air intakes, and a sports exhaust system distinguish the M3 Touring from the 3 Series Touring, it is distinguished by flared arches, large air intakes, and a sports exhaust system. For the first time, BMW will have a direct competitor to the long-running Audi RS4 Avant.

The M3 Touring’s release date has yet to be determined, but it is expected to arrive later this year. As the performance sub-brand celebrates its 50th anniversary, the car is one of a number of upcoming M models, including a new M2 Competition coupé, a lightweight M4 CSL coupé, and the 750hp XM SUV.

The M3 estate’s technical specifications have yet to be revealed, but BMW has confirmed that it will be powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol M engine. The mechanicals and powertrain of the M3 Touring are expected to be shared with the M3 sedan and M4 coupe, where the S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line engine produces 480hp and 550Nm in standard form. A Competition version of the new M3 Touring is also likely, with 510hp and 650Nm of torque.
