What does The New Image Reveal about The Mahindra Scorpio?
The new image confirms the Scorpio’s final design cues, which have been rumoured for over a year thanks to a barrage of spy photos that have been circulating on the internet.
The Scorpio receives an entirely new design for the first time, making this a full model change rather than a minor update. It retains the traditional upright styling cues and is more masculine in appearance than the previous SUV. Sharp-looking headlamps with subtle chrome treatment are standard on the new Scorpio’s front end. Higher trims should have an LED projector, while lower trims should have Halogens.
The new Mahindra multi-slat grille is smaller than the XUV700’s and features chrome accents to complete the premium look. It has a tall bumper with C-shaped surrounds for the fog lamp housings, which also serve as LED daytime running lights. In the higher variants, the fog lamps are expected to be LED units as well. According to our sources, while the SUV’s boxy and upright silhouette is familiar, all body panels are brand new. In fact, the new SUV is significantly bigger than the previous model. A butch and muscular stance, strong character lines, a kink in the window line, a side-hinged rear door, and vertical tail-lamps are all visible in spy photos.
The New Mahindra Scorpio will have New Interiors as Well
The new Scorpio’s interior is expected to be much more luxurious, with better ergonomics for all passengers. As we previously reported, all rows will have forward facing seats.
The dashboard layout of the new Scorpio appears to be similar to that of the now-discontinued Toyota Land Cruiser LC 200, according to spy photos. A large infotainment touchscreen takes centre stage, flanked on both sides by AC vents, and controls for the infotainment and HVAC systems are located below it. The USB ports and power outlet are located further down in the centre console, just ahead of the gear lever. On the new Scorpio, there will be a digital instrument cluster (in some models) and rear AC vents with separate blower controls.
Underpinnings and Powertrain options for The New Mahindra Scorpio
The new Scorpio is supported by an updated ladder frame chassis, which is also found on the new Thar. Powertrains are expected to be shared as well, with the new Scorpio offering 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines. On both engines, Mahindra is expected to offer both manual and automatic gearboxes, with four-wheel drive likely reserved for the top-spec models.
New Mahindra Scorpio: Release Date, Price, and Competitors
With marketing and commercial shoots already underway, Mahindra is expected to begin teasing the new Scorpio in the coming months. Meanwhile, the company plans to launch in the market by the middle of 2022.
