More features, better engines, and some bits shared with the Compass are all part of the Renegade’s second update.
The popular Renegade SUV has received a second facelift from Jeep. The updated model will be available first in Brazil, then in other markets. The Renegade is Jeep’s smallest SUV and has been on the market since 2014. The most recent update adds some cosmetic changes to the exterior as well as more equipment to the interior. We examine it more closely.

What’s new on the outside of the Jeep Renegade in 2022?
The 2022 Renegade facelift has only minor cosmetic changes. The updated SUV’s front end features a slimmer grille and revised headlamps with integrated turn indicators and LED daytime running lamp signatures. The front bumper gets a new look as well, with beefier cladding and rectangular fog lamps that are higher than before.
The Renegade’s profile has remained largely unchanged, but the rear has been updated with new tail-lamp graphics and a restyled bumper with a prominent faux skid plate and narrower lights at the corners. Its alloy wheels also get a new dual-tone design.

Interior and features of the 2022 Jeep Renegade facelift
There aren’t many changes to the overall design and layout of the facelift’s interior. It has been updated, however, with a new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel that looks like the Compass, and a new 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster. A new software is also expected to run on the infotainment system. In India, the climate control switchgear is the same as it was on the pre-facelift Compass.
Engine options for the 2022 Jeep Renegade facelift
In Brazil, the Renegade facelift has been unveiled, complete with a T270 badge on the tailgate. That means it will be powered by an ethanol-powered 1.3-litre T270 turbo-flex engine with 185hp and 270Nm. This engine can produce 180hp when running on gasoline.
The Renegade is available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations around the world, with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. A 6-speed and a 9-speed automatic gearbox are available. Depending on the market, Jeep offers a variety of petrol and diesel engine options for the Renegade.
Renegade Jeep for India
Jeep had previously confirmed to Autocar India that the Renegade would be launched in India later this year. The 4.2-meter-long Renegade would have slotted in between Jeep’s upcoming sub-4-meter SUV and the current Compass. In India, the Renegade and the Compass both use the same Small Wide 4X4 platform.
Plans to launch the Renegade were shelved, however, because the SUV proved to be more expensive than its competitors and too similar to the Compass, which was still new to the market. The Renegade is not expected to arrive in the United States any time soon, but Jeep has a busy year ahead of it, with three SUV launches planned.
