The 2022 FB Mondial 125cc Motorcycle Makes Its Debut – A Rival to The KTM 125 Duke

The Piega 125 by FB Mondial is expected to be significantly lighter than its main competitor, the KTM 125 Duke, at 135 kg.

FB Mondial is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that previously collaborated with Kinetic Motors to sell their products in India. They had to close their stores due to low sales. However, FB Mondial is well-known in its home country, where it manufactures a wide range of motorcycles.

In 2022, the company will make headlines once more with the launch of the Piega 125 motorcycle. FB Mondial has compared it to the KTM 125 Duke and found it to be significantly cheaper. No, it will not be sold in India. It is only available in European markets.

The main attraction of the Piega 125 is its stunning appearance. Rodolfo Frascoli, who also designed the new Suzuki Katana for 2022, designed the motorcycle. It’s also obvious, as Piega 125 appears to take a lot of inspiration from Katana.

It has the perspective of a predator about to pounce on its prey thanks to the headlight cowl. USD forks with gold plating and muscular tank shrouds add to the predator appeal. Twin projector units stacked on top of each other handle the headlight duties. They have LEDs built into them. The tank shrouds are aerodynamically designed to add downforce for a better front-end feel.

The tail section of the Piega 125 is the most intriguing part of the design, with taillights, a number plate, and indicators mounted on the tyre hugger. The back of the motorcycle has a very aesthetic and minimal appeal as a result of this. A wide street-style handlebar, split seats, an underbelly exhaust, and a sophisticated-looking swingarm are all included.

Single discs at both ends are standard on the 2022 FB Mondial 125cc, as is single-channel ABS. In addition, the motorcycle’s instrumentation is displayed on a TFT color display. Overall, Piega 125’s design appears to be futuristic and sleek.

Price & Powertrain

It is powered by a 124 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 14.8 bhp and 10.5 Nm. In comparison, the KTM 125 Duke’s 125cc engine produces 14.5 bhp and 12 Nm. Duke appears to have a torque advantage over Piega. Piega, on the other hand, counters with a kerb weight of 139 kg, which is lower than Duke’s 159 kg.

The Piega 125 is priced at EUR 4,400 (roughly Rs. 3.66 lakh) by FB Mondial, while the 125 Duke is priced at EUR 5,450 by KTM (Rs. 4.54 lakh approx). The Piega 125 is not only lighter and slightly more powerful than the 125 Duke, but it’s also a lot less expensive.

FB Mondial is unlikely to bring its Piega 125 to India because it will cost nearly twice as much as it does in Europe. Because the KTM 125 Duke is made in India, it costs Rs. 1.70 lakh, which is less than half the price of the Piega 125 in Europe.
