The Delhi Capitals (DC) will play the Gujarat Titans in their second encounter of the IPL 2022 season (GT). DC won their first game against the Mumbai Indians (MI), and GT also won their first game, defeating the Lucknow Super Giants, who were also debutants (LSG).
DC still has a few players absent from their lineup, and their team will be better once all of their international players return. Despite the shortage, DC was able to secure a victory over MI in a close contest. Now that some of the international players have returned, it’ll be interesting to observe how DC adjusts its lineup to achieve the greatest results.
Prithvi Shaw and Tim Seifert are the openers
When the other members of the top order failed in the final game, Prithvi Shaw tried his hardest to stand up for his team, but he was unable to carry out his intentions. However, he is known for getting DC off to a good start on the powerplay, therefore he will start the game.
Tim Seifert had a loss in the previous game, but it was only his first. During his innings, he hit four boundaries, demonstrating his power and aggression. Their power-hitting skills will come in helpful as the opening tandem may lead the batting line-up from the front.
KS Bharat, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell (middle order)
DC will have to make do with what they have until they get all of their abroad players back. As we saw in KS Bharat’s performance for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2021 edition, his ability to play at No. 3 will benefit DC.
Rishabh Pant will be in charge of the middle order and will be the innings’ anchor. He wasn’t able to achieve it in the last game, but he is a reliable player. DC’s power-hitter will be Rovman Powell. It is a skill that every Caribbean player possesses. They are notorious for finishing games and elevating them to new heights, and Powell will seek to do the same for DC.
Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur are all-rounders
These three players can hit it out of the park, whether it’s with the bat or with the ball. DC’s triumph in their first game was largely due to Lalit Yadav. In the 19th over of the game, his magnificent knock of 48*(38) helped DC chase down the score. When the game appeared to be slipping away from MI, Yadav and Axar Patel kept their team in the game.
Axar Patel, on the other hand, can bowl all four overs and bat down the order for a long time. Shardul Thakur will have to show not just his teammates, but also the rest of the world that the money spent on him was well spent. His performance under duress varies, but he has the ability to break any developing partnership in the opposing team’s game.
Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mustafizur Rahman are the bowlers
Khaleel Ahmed had a good start to the season, picking up two significant wickets in Tilak Varma and Tim David. For the team, he can maintain his economy and bowl at a good tempo. Kuldeep Yadav made his IPL comeback with KKR after being rested for the entire year of 2021.
In the game, he took three wickets, including two notable names in Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard. He took advantage of the opportunity and proved his worth. Muztafizur Rahman has joined the Delhi camp and is ready for selection for the upcoming game. He has a good chance of making the starting XI.
