T Kumar, a photojournalist for a news agency, was discovered hanging in his office due to financial difficulties

T Kumar, a veteran photojournalist who worked for a news agency in the city, was discovered hanging in his office last night, according to sources within the organisation.

Kumar was discovered hanging from a ceiling hook in the agency’s office last night by a colleague. Police officers responded to the call and rushed the photographer to the Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On Monday, his body was returned to his family after an autopsy.

Kumar was 56 years old and leaves behind a wife, a son, and a daughter. According to local news sources, he is in financial trouble and has a ‘backlog of salaries.’

He rose through the ranks of the news agency to become its state bureau chief, a photojournalist with over 30 years of experience. He joined the news agency in 1986 and was the first photographer to be promoted to state head of the Tamil Nadu bureau.
