Sooryavanshi Surpasses Simmba And Chennai Express to Become India’s 21st Highest Grossing Week 4 Film

Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, was released recently to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film, which stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles and features special appearances by Ranveer Singh and Aja Devgn, got off to a fast start and continued to see massive growth in box office as the days passed. All eyes were on the business of Sooryavanshi because it was the first big ticket release after the second lockdown.

We compare Sooryavanshi’s fourth-week box office collections to those of previous releases in this box office report. Sooryavanshi earns Rs. 6.43 crore in its fourth week, making it the 21st highest Week 4 grosser of all time. Interestingly, despite the occupancy restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 protocols, the film outperformed the previously released Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba, which earned Rs. 6.18 crore in its fourth week, and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express, which earned Rs. 6.01 crore in its fourth week.

Sooryavanshi Surpasses Simmba And Chennai Express

Despite the fact that Sooryavanshi is still a long way from surpassing the fourth-week box office collections of some other films, the film is still playing in theatres. In fact, based on recent trends, it’s highly likely that Sooryavanshi’s total box office collections, which are currently pegged at Rs. 191.35 crore, will approach the Rs. 200 crore mark in India.
