On Monday, actor Siddharth Anand got himself into trouble for making a vulgar and sexually insulting statement online about star badminton player Saina Nehwal. The ‘Rang De Basanti’ actor has been slammed on social media for his retweet of Nehwal’s post over Prime Minister Modi’s latest security breach in Punjab.
Saina had blasted the Prime Minister’s security breach during his visit to Ferozepur on January 5 in a tweet. “No nation can claim to be safe if the security of its own prime minister is jeopardised,” Saina had tweeted. In the clearest possible terms, I condemn anarchists’ cowardly attack on Prime Minister Modi. #BharatStandsWithModi #PMModi #BharatStandsWithModi (sic)
Siddharth is being investigated by the National Commission for Women.
Siddharth is now receiving criticism from Rekha Sharma, the chairwoman of the National Commission for Women (NCW), who took the incident seriously and wrote to the Maharashtra DGP to request a FIR against the actor. The Commission has demanded that Siddharth be punished as soon as possible for his ludicrous social media remark about Saina Nehwal.
