Shilpa Shetty was scandalized when she was offered Big Brother

In the middle of the 2000s, Shilpa Shetty’s career was experiencing a slowdown, but her participation in the UK-based reality show Big Brother altered how her fans viewed her.

Shilpa, whose 1990s films including Baazigar and Main Khiladi Tu Anari, gained immense recognition after winning the celebrity reality program.

In a recent interview with Mashable India, Shilpa revealed that she expected to be eliminated in the second week of the program and was rather surprised when, despite being nominated each week, she remained to remain in the competition.

Shilpa said that the show altered viewers’ perceptions of her. She stated, “I remained the same individual. It earned me worldwide recognition.”

In 2007, Shilpa participated in the celebrity edition of Bigg Boss. At the time, Bigg Boss was not as popular in India as it is now, so she “had no idea what it was or what I was aiming for.” Shilpa was apprehensive about what was expected of her on the show after viewing a few older episodes.

My mother informed them in no uncertain terms, “Listen, we are Indians, and we will not do this under any circumstances,” she added. Throughout the competition, Shilpa encountered numerous racially motivated remarks from her fellow participants. Shilpa’s several public breakdowns in response to the attacks garnered her sympathy.

Shilpa recalled that the show was scheduled to run for four weeks and that she intended to stay for two. “I genuinely believed that I would be eliminated in the second week.

Due to the fact that I was nominated and saved every week I wondered how this could be occurring. Then, during the third week, I suddenly realized that there are many Asians,” she stated.

Shilpa won the competition by an enormous margin and attributed her victory to the vast South Asian community in the United Kingdom. “Not only Indians but also Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and all desis. Thus, they actually went out and voted for me. I won by a 64% margin. “It was a landslide,” she concluded.
