Shah Rukh Khan said they were portrayed as ‘criminals, demons’ after Aryan Khan’s imprisonment

Aryan Khan, the son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, reportedly asked NCB officers if he deserved to be labeled a “international drug trafficker” despite the fact that no illegal substances were detected on his person.

In October of last year, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Aryan in connection with an alleged cocaine raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. He spent several weeks in jail before being granted bail.

He was accused of anything from drug possession to involvement with international criminal groups. In May of 2022, however, the NCB cleared him, citing a “lack of adequate evidence.”

According to India Today, Sanjay Singh, the deputy director-general (operations) of the NCB and leader of the SIT that conducted the investigation, recalls his interactions with Aryan. He had informed Aryan that he would approach the conversation with an open mind.

According to him, Aryan posed several “soul-searching questions” to him. He responded, “Sir, you have portrayed me as an international drug trafficker and alleged that I finance drug trafficking; aren’t these accusations absurd? That day, they did not locate any drugs on my person, yet they nevertheless arrested me. You have done me a grave disservice and tarnished my reputation, sir. Why did I have to spend so many weeks in jail? Did I merit it?”

Opposition parties and Shah Rukh followers said that Aryan’s detention was motivated by politics. The government has recommended disciplinary action against the former zonal director of the NCB, Sameer Wankhede, for his “shoddy investigation” of the issue.

Singh also stated in the India Today article that he spoke with Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh was described by Singh as saying, “We’ve been represented as some sort of large criminals or monsters out to ruin society, so getting to work every day is difficult.”

After several months away from the public eye, the actor has begun his return to work. Next year, he will appear in three films, Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, each of which has been announced within the past few weeks.
