RRR, Ram Charan Portrays Three Different Characters: ‘It doesn’t Get Any Bigger Than This’

After the success of their 2009 film Magadheera, actor Ram Charan and director SS Rajamouli have teamed up again for the period drama RRR.

Ram Charan is as thrilled as the rest of us about his next flick RRR. After the hit 2009 release Magadheera, this is Ram Charan’s second collaboration with filmmaker SS Rajamouli. “Any actor on the set gets to learn a lot from him,” the actor told Variety of his connection with Rajamouli. It could be about his character, his work ethics, or his passion. It’s a wonderful place to work.”

“I think he’s come a long way and is now the number one director in India, and it’s such a pleasure to work with him again,” he continued.

Ram Charan plays Alluri Sitarama Raju, a British Raj resistance fighter in RRR. While we’re curious about Charan’s role, he’s overjoyed that he gets to portray “three different roles” in the film. The actor explained, “The script forces my character to evolve into three different roles and three different looks.” He also stated that while working with Rajamouli on a film is a “dream come true,” being able to play three personalities in a single film seems like “it just can’t get much better or bigger than this.”

“And all three roles have distinct characterizations,” Ram Charan assured, adding, “That’s what intrigued me a lot as an actor.” It’s not about nuance and minor distinctions; it’s about major differences.”

Jr NTR, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody are among the cast members of RRR. The film was originally set for a 2020 release, however it was postponed due to Covid-19-induced lockdown.

The film will now be released in theatres on January 7, 2022.
