Yuzvendra Chahal of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) lit up the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday with a magnificent hat-trick in the final overs of the run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Chahal, who entered the game in the 17th over with Kolkata leading the chase of 218 at 178/4, claimed four wickets and gave only two runs to turn the game around.
He began by dismissing Venkatesh Iyer, who was stumped by Sanju Samson after stepping down the track. The following wicket was critical, that of Shreyas Iyer, who was batting on 85 and appeared to be on his way to leading KKR to victory.’
He took him cleanly in front of the wicket, severely eroding KKR’s hopes. Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins were subsequently defeated by simple leg breaks, prompting Chahal to run celebratory laps and pose for the cameras.
Dhanashree Varma, his wife and content developer, was overjoyed, as was the entire RR camp. It marks the IPL’s 21st hattrick and the fifth by a player from the Rajasthan Royals club.
Additionally, Chahal finished with figures of 5/40 in four overs, his first league five-wicket haul. As expected, Twitter erupted once more, with Chahal’s close friend and co-conspirator, Kuldeep Yadav, also congratulating the league.
