Roger Federer at Wimbledon 2022? Update

Federer has competed in the prestigious event 22 times since his debut in 1999. With eight titles, Federer is the most successful player at Wimbledon.

Since he is the most successful player to have ever graced the competition, it is easy to argue that Roger favourite grand slam is Wimbledon

Federer’s participation in Wimbledon 2022 has been a hot topic in recent weeks, especially after the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) released the player entry lists for this year’s tournament and his name was noticeably absent.

Is Roger Federer going to Wimbledon in 2022?

Given the short amount of time before the tournament begins, Federer’s participation in Wimbledon 2022 is highly unlikely. Federer hasn’t registered for the singles tournament, and his chances of being chosen as a wildcard are slim to none.

The eight-time Wimbledon champion hasn’t played professional tennis since August 2021, when he underwent knee surgery.

Federer stated at the time that he does not intend to return to competitive tennis until the middle of 2022 at the earliest.

Federer is unlikely to return to the court until September’s Laver Cup and October’s Swiss Indoors Basel, which means fans will miss out on seeing their favourite player compete at Wimbledon for the first time in 23 years.

Federer has been out of action due to a knee injury for over eight months, during which time he has dropped out of the ATP Top 20 for the first time in two decades.

Roger Federer’s record at Wimbledon

Federer has competed in the prestigious event 22 times since his debut in 1999. Federer won Wimbledon for the first time in 2003 and went on to win it four more times between 2004 and 2007. In 2009, 2012, and 2017, Federer won Wimbledon three more times.

Federer has placed second four times, the most recent time being against Novak Djokovic in 2019. With eight Wimbledon titles under his belt, Federer remains the most successful player of the Open Era.

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club will host the 2022 Wimbledon Championships from June 27 to July 10. In the singles category, Novak Djokovic and Ashleigh Barty are the current champions. While Djokovic is expected to defend his title at this year’s tournament, Barty has already announced her retirement from the sport.
