    RAM NAVAMI- राम नवमी

    PREFACE OF RAM NAVAMI:

    Many festivals in India are significant to Hindu people in different forms. Indian Hindu people celebrate the birthday of the Hindu Deity Lord Ram and celebrate Ram Navami according to Hindu rituals.

    It is basically a Hindu Annual Spring Festival that falls on the ninth day of Chaitra Shukla Paksha Navami which means that it is usually celebrated in the Gregorian months of either March and April annually. Ram Navami is observed as the birthday of Lord Ram according to the Hindu Calendar. It is primarily celebrated on the last day of Chaitra Navratri. It has a specific significance to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. It is mostly celebrated in different parts of India such as Ayodhya, UttarPradesh, Nashik, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Also, it is celebrated outside India, which is the birthplace of Sita, Janakpurdham in Nepal with full devotion and Hindu rituals. Rama Navami is voluntary a government day off in India. The day is remarkable by Rama Katha recitals, or recital of Rama chronicles together with the Hindu holy folk tale Ramayana. A few Vaishnava Hindu people visit a sacred Hindu temple, while many offer and pray in their home, and a few even take part in a Hindu religious music performance which is usually a bhajan or kirtan is a segment of Hindu rituals and offerings. Few followers note the occasion by proceeds of toy sculptures of baby Lord Ram, bathing and wearing outfits to it and then keeping it in a bassinet. Donations and free meals are served to underprivileged societies. A ceremony is an event for righteous demonstration for most Hindu people. Ram Navami Puja, Fasting and Havan, are also performed on this day with Hindu rituals.

    Different forms of RAM NAVAMI :

    Ram Navami is observed as spring Navratri and the birthday of Lord Ram to King Dasharatha and his wife Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya. The occasion rejoices the incarnation of Vishnu in the human form of Lord Rama. Rathayatras or Shobha Yatra of Lord Ram, Sita, brother Lakshman, and Hanuman are held at different places of India which usually involves the chariot processions. Also many do perform a holy bath in the Sarayu river in Ayodhya and then offer puja by visiting the Rama temple. Few mark this event by fasting, Reciting Ramayana Katha, Havan, Donation, and organizes Kirtan and Bhajan music festival. Some even observe it as the wedding day of Ram and Sita typically known as Kalyanotsavam.

    Few states perceive Rama Navami in the Jagannath temples and regional Vaishnava community and view it as the occasion when celebrations start for their yearly Jagannath Ratha Yatra held in summer.

    How to celebrate Ram Navami ?

    Ram Navami is celebrated on the 9th and last day of Chaitra Navaratri while few Vaishnava societies worship all nine days of Chaitra Navaratri remembering Rama. It rejoices the coming of Vishnu’s 7th incarnation of Lord Ram. It is performed by offering devotional puja and music like bhajan and kirtan, also by fasting and reciting the chronicle of Lord Ram. Many parts of India like Ayodhya, Rameswaram, Bhadrachalam, and Sitamarhi temples perform special puja during this time. Few even organize Rath Yatra and charity. Lord Surya, the Hindu sun god, is also worshipped in some parts of India on this day. ISKCON Devotees observe fast throughout the daylight time.

    The importance of Ram Navami denotes the conquest of good over bad and the creation of the Dharma to defeat the Adharma. The celebration of the occasion begins in the early morning with water offerings to the Sun God with perseverance to receive blessings in abundance. Some people suspect Lord Rama as the legacy of the Sun God. It is observed on the ninth and last day of Chaitra Navaratri. It rejoices the coming of Lord Vishnu’s 7th incarnation in the human form of Lord Ram. Ram Lila- a dramatic enactment of Ramayana is performed.

    Why is Ram Navami celebrated ?

    Rama Navami is among the Hindu ceremony that is celebrated by the Indian Hindu community originated in Uttar Pradesh and then, it started spreading across the other parts of the country.

    Ram Navami is observed as the birthday of the 7th human incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The day is commemorated to acknowledge Lord Ram who took birth on the 9th day of Chaitra month in the daytime in Ayodhya to King Dasharath and Queen Kaushalya in the Raghu Kula which is formally known as the Solar Dynasty. This day corresponds with the 9th day of Chaitra Navratri, the day when the fasting ends. According to the Gregorian calendar, the festival is observed in March or April.

    Ram Navami is performed with full devotion and fun. The temple and houses are adorned beautifully with flowers, and the Lord statues are dressed in new clothes and jewels. In a few places, the puja is performed from the initial day of Chaitra Navratri until Navami.

    According to the Hindu mythology, Kabandha, a headless trunk, is a demon who was slain and freed from a hex by Lord Ram and his brother Lakshman. Kabandha’s myth emerge in the Hindu chronicles Ramayana and Mahabharata and later different alteration of Ramayana.

    Also, Lord Ram stroke the holy arrow, that own the strength of the divine gods in it, which penetrated the heart of King Ravan and led him to death. This information is derived from the picture of the war sequence from a book called the Yuddha Kanda which is a manuscript of the Ramayana created in Udaipur.

    Importance of RAM NAVAMI Festival:

    Lord Rama or Ramachandra is the 7th incarnation of the Hindu Deity Lord Vishnu. Lord Ram, is believed to be a historical hero, and is possibly the greatest righteous ideal figure according to the Hindu mythology, and is an illustration of purity and nuptial worship.

    Conclusion: 

    Ram Navami, is observed as the birthday of the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu on the 9th day of the Chaitra month and is remarkably an auspicious ceremony according to Hindu Mythology. It notes the conclusion of the spring occasion of Chaitra Navratri or Vasanta Navratri. The Vijaydashmi or Dussehra is held right after Navami. It is observed as the conquest of Good over evil.

    The devotees offer prayers to Lord Ram by offering sandal, and incense sticks, who took birth on this Tithi of Navami in the Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month as per the Hindu Mythology.
