Triumph Motorcycles India has begun accepting pre-orders for the Tiger 1200, the company’s flagship adventure tourer. While the company has confirmed the start of pre-orders, a launch date for this motorcycle has yet to be announced.
The motorcycle was unveiled in its entirety earlier this month, and it is already available in a few international markets. The Triumph Tiger 1200 in 2022 receives a number of improvements over its predecessor. The Rally and GT versions of the British marque’s flagship adventure tourer will be available. The GT model is intended for touring, whereas the Rally model is intended for off-road use. Rhus’ GT model line features 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheels, as well as a shorter suspension travel than the Rally model. The Rally model has a longer travel suspension and cross-spoke design wheels with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear.
Both models share the same 1,160cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine. The motor is tuned to produce 147bhp at 9,000rpm and 130Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm when connected to a six-speed gearbox. A shaft drive system transmits power to the rear wheel.
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will compete with Ducati’s Multistrada V4 and BMW’s R 1250 GS models. We expect the new model to be more expensive than its predecessor, with prices starting at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
