According to Zee Business reporter Bhawana Kishor, petrol in Delhi will be cheaper by Rs 8. The new tariffs will take effect at 12 a.m. EST today.


PTI, a news agency, also tweeted about the decision on its official Twitter account. “Delhi cabinet decides to reduce VAT on petrol from 30% to 19.4%; Petrol price to go down by Rs 8 per litre in Delhi: Official sources,” the tweet read.


The central government lowered the excise charge on fuel prices earlier this month, and the prices of gasoline and diesel have stayed steady since then. The Finance Ministry announced a Rs 5 decrease in petrol excise charge and a Rs 10 reduction in diesel excise duty on November 3, 2021. This occurred at a time when the country’s fuel prices were at an all-time high.

Following the federal government’s decision, several additional states and union territories have decreased their VAT on gasoline and diesel prices. The Delhi administration has also decided to lower the VAT on gasoline.

The current costs of petrol and diesel in Delhi, according to Indian Oil’s official website, are Rs 103.97 per litre and Rs 86.67 per litre, respectively.

Petrol costs Rs 109.98 per litre in Mumbai, while diesel costs Rs 94.14 per litre.

Prices for gasoline and diesel are as follows, according to the official website of fuel vendor Indian Oil:

1) Petrol costs Rs 103.97 per litre in Delhi, while diesel costs Rs 86.67 per litre.

2) Petrol costs Rs 109.98 per litre in Mumbai, while diesel costs Rs 94.14 per litre.

3) Petrol costs Rs 104.67 per litre in Kolkata, while diesel costs Rs 89.79 per litre.

4) Petrol costs Rs 101.40 per litre, diesel costs Rs 91.43 per litre in Chennai.
