People Show Their Support for India’s Armed Forces on Armed Forces Day, and Ministers Ask for Donations

Funds raised on Armed Forces Flag Day go to the families of martyrs, serving personnel and ex-servicemen, and rehabilitating battle casualties.

Armed Forces Flag Day has been observed on December 7 since 1949 to honour bravehearts and men and women in uniform who have valiantly fought and continue to fight to protect the country.

People expressed their support for the armed forces on Twitter. “Let us salute our armed forces on Armed Forces Flag Day for the battles they have fought for us, for the glory they have brought to the nation,” Twitter user Nainika wrote. “Salute to the men in uniform who valiantly fought on our borders to safeguard the country’s honour,” another user, Pankaj Nayak, tweeted.

“‘Thank you’ is a small word to express gratitude for our armed forces’ services. They are always there for us, at all times and in all circumstances, whether it is a war, a pandemic, or a natural disaster. Because of their sacrifices, we can sleep peacefully in our homes “Anirudh Singh, a law student at Jamia Millia Islamia University, tweeted about it.

The government has been accepting donations at the Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, to commemorate the occasion.

“I salute the indomitable courage and immense love our armed forces have for India,” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted.

“As a mark of gratitude, let us all contribute generously towards the welfare of our brave servicemen and also ensure the well-being of their families,” Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju tweeted.

“Heartfelt tributes to the gallant heroes who have laid down their lives in the service of the nation,” MP Naveen Jindal tweeted in honour of the martyrs.

“Armed Forces Flag Day brings to the forefront our commitment to look after the families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the nation and the soldiers who continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the Motherland’s honour,” Haryana MP Sanjay Bhatia wrote on Twitter.

The #ArmedForcesFlagDay is an opportunity to show our support for our war-wounded soldiers and martyrs’ families. Every citizen has a responsibility to contribute voluntarily to their care, support, rehabilitation, and financial assistance.
