Nitin Gadkari believes Tesla should manufacture in India

Nitin Gadkari stated in a media interview that Tesla should begin manufacturing in India and then sell in India.

He would be able to increase his profits, which would be beneficial to the economy as well. This is not the first time that India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways has made a statement like this.

“If Elon Musk is willing to manufacture Tesla in India, then there is no problem,” Nitin Gadkari said. We have all of the necessary skills, and the vendors are available.

We have access to a wide range of technology, and as a result, Elon Musk can lower costs. However, our request to him is that he come to India and begin manufacturing here. India is a large market with export facilities and ports.

He is welcome to make his exports from India, and they have no objections. However, if you want to manufacture in China and sell in India, that is not a good idea for India. Our request to him is that he come to India and start manufacturing.”

Elon Musk was also given a suggestion by Nitin Gadkari. “India is a good market and a huge market,” he said. As a result, it is a win-win situation for both parties.

In India, all products and vendors are available, and they are of high quality. It will be simpler for him to manufacture and sell it in India. He’ll make a lot of money, and it’ll be good for our economy as well.”

Elon Musk claims that he is “not permitted to sell or service automobiles.”

For years, we’ve been anticipating Elon Musk’s arrival in India to launch Tesla. However, Elon Musk recently stated unequivocally that Tesla will not be entering the Indian market for the time being.

Tesla will not build a factory in any location where they are not allowed to sell and service cars first, according to Elon Musk on Twitter.

Initially, Tesla requested that the government lower import taxes. Tesla, according to Elon Musk, should not be subjected to the same tax as other large-displacement gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Tesla wants to sell their cars as CKD or CBU vehicles. They want to assess the Indian market first before deciding whether or not to build a factory here.

The government, on the other hand, believes it is unethical for Tesla to manufacture vehicles in China and then bring them to India. As a result, they want Tesla to begin manufacturing and selling cars in India.

This would benefit our country while also assisting them in aggressively pricing vehicles.

India currently has one of the world’s highest import tariffs. The government is pushing for the “Make in India” initiative in order to reduce reliance on imports. They want items such as batteries, components, and electric vehicles to be manufactured in India.
