India’s men’s hockey captain, Manpreet Singh, guided his team to their first Olympic medal after a lengthy drought. He’s also a lover boy when he’s not on the ice. Illi Saddique is Manpreet’s wife. She was born and raised in Malaysia. When the Indian captain visited Malaysia in 2012 as part of the Indian hockey team for a tournament, he met her.

Manpreet and Illi were only engaged in 2014, but their marriage took a long time to come together. The courtship could have lasted up to six years. On December 16, 2020, the couple married in Jalandhar.

In November, the couple welcomed a baby girl into the world. Manpreet had uploaded a photo of his newborn baby before going for the national camp, stating that he was not ready to leave him for hockey duty.

After a match, Manpreet ran into her. Illi had travelled to Mayalsia to see the Sultan Johor Cup game, and after the game, the two met and swapped phone numbers.
