Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, met with Karan Adani, the Chief Executive Officer of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ), at Nabanna on Thursday to discuss various investment projects in Bengal.
Adani Port has been allocated Berth 2 of Haldia Dock for up-gradation, according to sources. The Adani Group would invest a total of Rs 298 crore and pay a royalty to Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Port. The commissioning date is set for 2024-25.
Investments in the Tajpur Port in East Midnapore were also explored, according to Nabbana sources. The West Bengal government plans to build Tajpur port, a deep-sea port.
It’s worth noting that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Gautam Adani, the chairman and founder of the Adani Group, met in the state secretariat in Nabanna on December 2. Banerjee has invited Gautam Adani to the Bengal Global Summit, which will take place in Kolkata in April of this year. Adani followed up with a tweet “Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, it’s a pleasure to see you. Different investment scenarios were discussed, as well as West Bengal’s enormous potential. In April 2022, I hope to attend the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS).”
