Main Six Types of Digital Marketing in 2021

“Digital marketing can be broadly broken into 6 main categories”. In this post I’ll take a look at what you can expect to earn within each channel, where the best jobs are and how many of the roles there are. This is by no means a complete list however it should give a good indication of which areas you might want to focus on if you’re looking for a job in digital marketing.

Importance of Digital Marketing

Now a day’s world is changing on digital world. People are using internet on mobiles, laptops, desktop pc’s for their work. Everyone is uses digital marketing in some or other way because it is cheap and easy to use compared to traditional marketing methods. If you are interested in Digital marketing and want to share your knowledge with people write for us digital marketing blog.

Marketing is an art of getting customers through advertising products or services with the help of media like TV, newspapers, social websites etc.

Marketing can be classified into two main types one is online marketing and second is offline (traditional) marketing.

Online marketing covers all the activities which are done over internet including social media promotions, search engine optimization (seo),search engine marketing (sem), content writing for website/blogs , email ids creation & sending promotional mails to users etc. whereas offline(traditional) includes seminars, conferences, outdoor promotion including billboards and advertisements on radio, television etc.

Social Media Management

In my mind this is definitely one of the most fun areas of digital marketing and probably one that will fit well with freelancers or consultants. You generally don’t need an extremely technical background either unless you’re managing multiple accounts which may be engaging with customers through rich media such as video uploads, so this also makes it a great option if you want to increase your technical knowledge but aren’t looking to go into a purely development focused career.

SEO is often one of the most sought after digital marketer positions since it can be extremely lucrative if done well. No surprise then that this role comes with the highest salaries across most companies. Just bear in mind that there are some very important rules that need to be adhered to (e.g. don’t use tactics like buying links, keyword stuffing etc.). However the good news here is there’s plenty of work around and lots of people are sharing their knowledge and if you are SEO expert and want to share some knowledge with people than write for us seo topic and share with us we publish on our site.

The next highest paying digital marketing roles are those that revolve around paid media such as PPC or Google Adwords. This would typically involve setting up and managing adverts for clients as well as analysing their performance and optimising where necessary. It’s a fairly technical role but like social media management it has the potential to be very rewarding financially assuming you know what you’re doing.

Email Marketing

I’m still surprised by how many marketers I meet who aren’t using email marketing (or even aware of its existence) despite its high ROI and lead generation capability. If you’ve ever sent an email or received one then you already have more than enough qualifications to be a paid email marketer. You can use tools such as Mailchimp for free and there are plenty of guides online that you can refer to if necessary. This area is definitely one that would benefit from freelancing or consulting since it often requires the ability to write emails on behalf of your clients (e.g. drip campaigns) which wouldn’t be practical in an agency environment where each project may require different copywriters.

Content Marketing

Creating content (e.g. video, info graphics or blog posts) isn’t necessarily the easiest thing in the world but like most digital marketing roles it becomes much easier with practice and having someone manage your SEO can also help you get the most out of your content. If you’re not confident in creating something that can compete on a commercial level then it may be worth hiring someone to create such content for you (e.g. through Upwork or even your own freelancing website).

For many people this is where their career will lie and there’s plenty of agencies around wanting to hire creative designers, UX/UI specialists and more. It may not pay as well as development but there’s enough work out there if you look hard enough and again some roles here also lend themselves very well for freelancing or consulting on the side (e.g. redesigning sites for clients without actually taking on the project).

Final Words So there you have it. If you’re looking to get into digital marketing as a career then hopefully this has given you a few ideas of where to focus your efforts and what areas pay best. You might even find your perfect role within one of these or an entirely new area that I haven’t covered here, but the point is DO NOT give up if you don’t see a lot of opportunities in the field after a few weeks since it’s all about perseverance and having the right people believe in your abilities. Good luck! 🙂
