KGF producers do a U-turn on KGF Chapter 3, now say ‘will not be starting KGF 3 anytime soon’

Kartik Gowda, the executive producer of KGF, has issued a statement on social media declaring that all rumors concerning KGF Chapter 3 are false and that the production company has no plans to work on it in the near future.

Just one day after KGF producer Vijay Kiragandur raised fans’ hopes for a third installment of the popular franchise, the series’ executive producer Karthik Gowda reversed course. In a social media statement on behalf of Hombale Films, he indicated that they had no intentions to begin filming KGF: Chapter 3 “anytime soon.” Both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of KGF featured Yash as the protagonist. The films earned 250 crore and 1170 crore, respectively, at the box office.

There have been rumors for weeks that work on KGF: Chapter 3 has reportedly begun. The actor Yash added fuel to the fire when he revealed in an interview that he and the film’s director Prashanth Neel had discussed certain parts. Producer Vijay Kiragandur even provided a release date for the film, stating that they intended to begin filming later this year.

However, Karthik Gowda’s tweet now seems to contradict that. On Saturday night, Kartik tweeted, “The rumors circulating are just guesswork. We @hombalefilms will not begin #KGF3 anytime soon, as we have a number of fascinating projects in the pipeline. We’ll let you know with a boom when we begin working toward that goal.”

Vijay told Dainik Bhaskar on Friday, “Director Prashant Neel is now working on Salaar.” 30 to 35 percent of the shooting has been completed. The next schedule is set to begin the following week. We anticipate finishing it by October-November of this year. Therefore, we want to begin filming KGF after October of this year. We anticipate the film’s release in 2024.”

He stated that the franchise aimed to build a Marvel-like universe. “Moving forward, we will construct a Marvel-style universe. We want to combine characters from several films to create something similar to Doctor Strange. The manner in which it occurred in Spider-Man: Homecoming or Doctor Strange. So that we can simply reach a larger audience,” he explained.

The KGF films tell the tale of Rocky (Yash), an underdog who ascended to become the emperor of the Kolar Gold Fields gold-mining empire. Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Anant Nag, and Pranidhi Raj also appear in the flicks.
