  • Owned by Qianjiang Group, Benelli’s parent organisation
  • Sells mainly 125cc to 200cc bikes worldwide
  • Also has some electric two-wheelers in its portfolio

While Keeway Motor may be unfamiliar to most Indians, the company’s website indicates that it has a significant global presence, selling its two-wheelers in more than 60 countries. Sister company Benelli paved the way for Volvo’s entry into India; both companies are owned by the Qianjiang Group, which is owned by Geely (one of China’s largest automakers and Volvo’s largest shareholder).

While the company hasn’t revealed any details about the products it will unveil in India on May 17, the company’s global lineup is dominated by 125cc models, which include both motorcycles and scooters. Models in the 150-250cc range, as well as some 500cc models that appear to be based on their Benelli counterparts, are also available. (Like many half-litre Benellis, they have ‘502’ in their name tags, despite the fact that the engine is only 486cc.)

The company also has an electric scooter, the E-Zi Mini, in addition to its gasoline-powered offerings. With manufacturers rushing to join the electric vehicle bandwagon, there’s a good chance Keeway will introduce the e-scooter here. It’s powered by a 1kW hub motor and has a 0.96kWh Li-ion battery with a claimed range of 45 kilometers in the UK.
