On Friday, Pune Police filed a complaint against BJP Maharashtra social media cell in-charge Jiten Gajaria for comparing Uddhav Thackeray’s wife Rashmi to former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi.
On Friday, the Pune Police’s cyber cell filed a complaint against BJP Maharashtra social media cell in-charge Jiten Gajaria for a tweet comparing state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s wife to former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi.
This comes a day after Gajaria’s statement was recorded at the Bandra Kurla Complex by the Mumbai Police’s cyber cell. Officials interrogated him for over four and a half hours, and he was only allowed to leave after sunset.
Gajaria has been charged with defamation after tweeting a photo of Rashmi Thackeray and referring to her as “Marathi Rabri Devi.”
The Pune cyber cell has dispatched a team to Mumbai to apprehend Gajaria.
Gajaria is also accused of posting a divisive message about caste and religion on social media. According to news agency ANI, a case has been filed under sections 153A, 500, and 505(2) in this regard.
On Thursday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar spoke out against the tweet, claiming that the BJP’s IT cell dragged Rashmi Thackeray’s name into the fray because they have no beef with Uddhav and Aditya Thackeray.
