In India, 1,17,100 new coronavirus infections and 302 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases to 3,71,363.

With 1,17,100 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours, India surpassed the one-lakh mark in its daily Covid-19 tally on Friday. The country’s current active caseload, according to the latest updated data from the Union ministry of health and family affairs, is 3,71,363.

The last time India saw more than one lakh cases in a single day was on June 6, 2021, when the virus’s second wave wreaked havoc across the country.

The number of people infected with the highly transmissible Omicron virus in the country has surpassed 3,000 (3,007), with 1,199 people cured. The rapidly spreading strain has now spread to 27 states.

The daily positivity rate is now 7.74 percent, and the weekly positivity rate is 4.54 percent.

The death toll reached 4,83,178 with the death of 302 patients due to related complications. In the last 24 hours, 30,836 people have recovered from the disease, bringing the total to 3,43,71,845. The recovery rate now stands at 97.57 percent.

According to the health ministry, over 68 crore samples have been tested for the virus in the country so far.

In addition, beneficiaries have received over 149 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine as part of a nationwide vaccination campaign that began about a year ago.
