Irfan Pathan joins Aamir Khan for a Lagaan reunion as the film turns 21

On Wednesday, the cast and crew of Aamir Khan’s film Lagaan gathered at the actor’s Mumbai home to commemorate the film’s 21st anniversary.

Aamir’s production company has now released a video showing how they spent the day eating, conversing, playing, and simply having fun at his home. Ashutosh Gowariker directed the film, which was released on June 15, 2001.

Aamir Khan’s production company tweeted a video of the team’s secret celebrations on Friday. It was shared using the hashtag “#21YearsOfLagaan.”

Aamir, Ashutosh Gowariker, Yashpal Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, Rajendranath Zutshi, and others can be seen chatting in the video clip.

Ex-Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Aakash Chopra also participated in the festivities. At the gathering were also Shankar Pandey, Raja Awasthi, Suhasini Mulay, Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat, and Amin Gazi.

Irfan remarked about the video, “What a beautiful evening!” A fan remarked, “How lovely!” Another remarked, “What a beautiful idea it was to meet after all these years, and what a lot of fun it was..love from Turkey.” One more said, “Lagaan family in addition to Irfan Pathan! What a spetacular reunion!!!”

Gracy Singh starred with Aamir in Lagaan, alongside British actors Paul Blackthorne and. The film was nominated for the 74th Academy Award for Best Foreign Language and gained considerable critical and financial praise. It was the third Indian film to be nominated in the category, following Mother India (1957) and Salaam Bombay! (1988).

Lagaan is the story of Bhuvan (Aamir), a villager from Champaner, Gujarat, who is challenged to a game of cricket by an arrogant British soldier (Paul Blackthorne) as a wager to escape paying taxes (lagaan).

In addition to Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh, Aamir will now be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha. The film will debut in theaters on August 11. It is a Hindi adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump.
