History

International Dance Day was established by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, UNESCO’s primary partner for the performing arts. Since its inception in 1982, the International Dance Committee and the International Theatre Institute ITI have chosen a great dance celebrity to write a message for International Dance Day. This day is a celebration for those who recognise the value and relevance of the art form “dancing,” as well as a wake-up call for governments, legislators, and institutions that have yet to recognise the art form’s importance to the community and individual, as well as its continued financial growth.
