Due to illness, contestant Saumya Kamble joined the finale via video call. Her parents accepted the trophy and prize on her behalf.
On Sunday, Saumya Kamble of Pune was crowned ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 2’ winner (January 9). By defeating competitors Gourav Sarwan and Roza Rana, she won the trophy, a car, and a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh.
Sarwan of Jaipur was named the first runner-up, while Rana of Odisha was named the second runner-up.
Singer Asha Bhosle recently dubbed Kamble “choti Helen,” and actress Norah Fatehi gave her a belly dance coin belt.
“I am overwhelmed with emotions,” Kamble said in a statement about the win, according to The Indian Express. I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who voted and supported me throughout this journey, as well as those who have become a part of my life. Vartika didi, who has been with me throughout this journey as my choreographer and mentor on this show. I owe her a great deal. Being a part of India’s Best Dancer has been a fantastic learning experience, and I’ve met some wonderful people who share my passion for dancing. I’m not sure what the future holds, but dance will undoubtedly play a significant role. I’d like to express my gratitude to all of the judges, Malaika Ma’am, Terence Sir, and Geeta Maa, who have been a source of inspiration for all of us on the show with their encouraging words and constant motivation.”
Vartika Jha, her choreographer, received a cheque for Rs 5 lakh.
“All of the effort, hard work, trust, and determination has led to this day where my girl Saumya has won the coveted title,” Jha said in a statement. I’m incredibly proud of her! Instead of rushing into multiple techniques at once when we first got paired, we approached each performance as a challenge and only aimed to do our best. Her commitment to each performance has been outstanding. I wish her the best of luck! Thank you, India’s Best Dancer, for providing us with this opportunity, and thank you to everyone who voted for us. Thank you for everything, and I wish you all the best!”
The show, which was hosted by Maniesh Paul, featured choreographers Terence Lewis, Geeta Kapur, and actress Malaika Arora as judges. At the finale, the judges from India’s Got Talent, Shilpa Shetty, Badshah, and lyricist Manoj Muntashir, were present.
