In 2023, Hyundai will launch the Ai3 micro SUV in India

Hyundai is reportedly looking to enter the micro SUV or entry-level subcompact SUV category. Reportedly, the business is working on a small SUV called Ai3 that might be released in 2023. They say it will fit under the company’s current subcompact SUV Venue.

This CUV will likely compete with the Punch, a subcompact SUV from Tata Nexon’s own brand. It is also expected to compete with Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV NXT. According to sources, internal funding for the development of this mini SUV has been approved.

The business recently unveiled a new tiny SUV called Casper in South Korea, and reports claim an Indian version of the Casper could be produced soon. The Casper is Hyundai’s smallest SUV, based on the Santro’s architecture.

The Indian variant of this future mini SUV is currently unknown, but the Casper is well-known. The new Hyundai Casper is 3,595mm long, 1,595mm wide, and 1,575mm tall, with a 2.4 metre wheelbase.

The Casper has a fully digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen. The Casper also has seven airbags, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, high-beam assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Casper presently comes with two engines: a 76 bhp 1.0-litre normally aspirated petrol and a 100 bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Both engines are mated to a 4-speed auto.

For the first time since Tata entered the PV market in the late 1990s, the South Korean automaker has been surpassed by Tata Motors. Tata Motors sold 35,461 cars in December 2021, while Hyundai only sold 32,312 cars in the same month.

YoY sales were down 31.83 percent, whereas MoM sales were down 12.67 percent. A few Alcazar, Santro, Xcent, and Verna models also sold well.

Also, Hyundai plans to introduce five new models in 2022, including a redesigned Creta and Venue. There have been recent unmasked dealer deliveries of the new Tuscon. Before the end of the year, Hyundai will also unveil the refreshed Kona EV SUV and the Ioniq 5 pure EV.
