Hyundai’s New MPV, The 2022 Stargazer, to Compete with The Ertiga XL6 and Carens

Stargazer, a new global MPV from Hyundai, will be unveiled soon. officially released teasers

One of the world’s biggest markets for MPVs is Indonesia. In the nation, a sizable number of international MPV models make their debuts. Hyundai’s upcoming Stargazer MPV will also jump on board.

Hyundai has made some Stargazer teasers available in advance of its upcoming release. Teasers confirm the presence of a one-of-a-kind horizontal LED DRL that runs the length of the MPV’s bonnet. In addition, it receives a quad-pod headlamp setup that is placed close to its grille. Hyundai has also used its most recent Parametric Jewel grille, which was also used on the face-lifted Creta and the most recent Tucson as well as the new Venue 2022 in India.

Hyundai Teases The 2022 Stargazer MPV

Its silhouette teaser confirms that its side profile will have the standard styling of an MPV. The teaser shows that the Stargazer will have connected LED taillamps in the H design from Hyundai on the back. Overall, the car can be seen as the spiritual successor to Hyundai’s Trajet and one that heavily borrows styling cues from Hyundai Staria, its bigger sibling. While more information about the Stargazer is still pending, we can say that it will compete in Indonesia with vehicles like the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza, and Mitsubishi Xpander.

Possible Launch in India?

Hyundai has not yet confirmed whether it intends to import Stargazer into India. If it does, though, it might work well with Hyundai’s Indian lineup. The demand for a stylish MPV has increased as urban Indian customers seek out vehicles with more interior space. Kia made an effort to target this particular customer base and has been successful in selling between 5,000 and 7,000 Carens per month.

As the segment’s competition is currently limited to the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and Kia Carens, there appears to be room for at least one more competitor. The Creta’s powertrain lineup could be used by Stargazer, just like it was for the Carens. A naturally aspirated petrol engine, as well as turbocharged diesel and petrol engines, make up Creta’s current engine lineup.

2022 Hyundai India Launch Schedule

The leadership team at Hyundai in India is likely preoccupied with strategies to maintain its position as the country’s second-largest OEM (in volumes). Tata Motors’ relentless product push over the past six months has enabled the domestic automaker to unseat Hyundai twice from its coveted second place. This should have sounded the alarm at Hyundai’s corporate headquarters, and unsurprisingly, Hyundai plans to reorganize its entire Indian lineup.

Recently, the 2022 Venue was introduced, and in the second half of the year, we anticipate Hyundai to release some additional products, including a facelifted Creta and an entirely new Tucson. All of this should help Hyundai maintain its lead over Tata Motors and maintain its position as the country’s second largest automaker. Without affecting its current lineup, the launch of a product like Stargazer could increase sales by another 5,000 units.
