Hyundai NEXO gets approval in India to launch by the end of the year

Hyundai’s NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) has got type clearance in India. It is currently available in international countries and is expected to be released in the United States by the end of 2022.
The automobile features an eye-catching design, an affluent cabin, and a range of 666 kilometres on a full tank of hydrogen, to name a few highlights.

The Hyundai NEXO features a sloping roofline, a cascading grille, a short shark fin, slim headlights, and sharp-looking wrap-around LED taillamps.

Roof rails, blacked-out B-pillars, ORVMs, and designer dual-tone alloy wheels flank it on the flanks.

The car has a wheelbase of 2,790mm and a length of 4,670mm in terms of measurements.

The vehicle boasts a roomy, technologically advanced interior.

The Hyundai NEXO boasts a roomy interior with eco-friendly upholstery, a sunroof, ventilated and heated front seats, and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel with cruise control.

It features a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment console with the most up-to-date connectivity features.

The passengers’ safety is ensured with multiple airbags, blind-spot monitoring, remote parking assist, and lane follow assist.

The vehicle’s range is 666 kilometres.

The Hyundai NEXO is equipped with a 95-kilowatt fuel cell, a 40-kilowatt battery, and an electric motor. The engine produces 161 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. It enables the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 179 km/h.

The vehicle has three tanks that hold a total of 156 litres of hydrogen. This capacity enables for a 666km driving range (based on WLTP cycle).


Pricing and availability for the Hyundai NEXO

The Hyundai NEXO is expected to arrive in India as a fully assembled vehicle by the end of the year. In terms of affordability, it is expected to cost roughly Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom).
