Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo have joined Netflix’s World War II thriller “All The Light We Cannot See”

In Netflix’s upcoming series, actors Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie will play leads opposite actress Aria Mia Loberti.

Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Laurie have joined the cast of ‘All the Light We Cannot See,’ a new Netflix thriller set during World War II.

‘All the Light We Cannot See,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter, follows Marie-Laure as she crosses paths with Werner, a German soldier. The film is a four-part adaptation of the same-named award-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. The series will star Aria Mia Loberti as Laure, a blind adolescent with a dark secret.

Ruffalo will play Daniel LeBlanc, Laure’s father and the principal locksmith at the Museum of Natural History in Paris. He’s thoughtful, and he’s determined to give his daughter as much independence as possible while also keeping her safe from Nazi occupation.

Laurie will portray Etienne LeBlanc, Daniel LeBlanc’s uncle. Etienne LeBlanc is a strange, reclusive World War I hero who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and is a member of the French resistance who conducts clandestine radio broadcasts.

Steven Knight, co-creator of ‘Peaky Blinders,’ wrote the series, which is directed by Shawn Levy, who also directed the film ‘Free Guy.’

Levy, Dan Levine, and Josh Barry of 21 Laps Entertainment will serve as executive producers on the series.

‘All the Light We Cannot See,’ published in 2014, received widespread critical acclaim as well as a Pulitzer Prize and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. The book spent more than 200 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list, according to Deadline, selling more than 5.7 million copies in print, e-book, and audio formats in North America, and another 9.5 million copies internationally.

On the work front, Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo will star in Netflix’s ‘The Adam Project,’ directed by Levy and set to premiere on March 11th.
