The importance of yoga in our lives cannot be overstated. In a world struggling to cope with a fast-paced lifestyle and the negative consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has proven to be a blessing. People all over the world have been wowed by yoga asanas. As a result, the International Day of Yoga holds a special place in our hearts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi first proposed the idea of an International Day of Yoga in 2014. The following year, on June 21, the first International Day of Yoga was observed. The United Nations has declared the day.

‘Yoga for Humanity’ is the theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga. It focuses on how yoga can assist people in achieving overall health.

To commemorate the day, 75 heritage and iconic sites across the country are hosting events. In addition, events to commemorate Yoga Day are being held all over the world.

The following is a list of events that will occur on this date in 2022

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Mysuru.

From Mysuru, Prime Minister Modi will lead the celebrations for International Yoga Day. He arrived in Karnataka for a two-day visit yesterday. Today, he will take part in a mass yoga demonstration on the grounds of Mysuru Palace. He will also be in Mysuru to lay the foundation stone for a coaching terminal at Naganahalli railway station at Maharaja’s College Ground. He’ll also be at the “Centre of Excellence for Persons with Communication Disorders” at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH).

At the Statue of Unity, the Minister of Health

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, will attend the celebrations at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. According to the health ministry, the Statue of Unity is one of 75 iconic sites across the country to commemorate the eighth edition of Yoga Day.

Entry to the Taj Mahal is free

On this day, admission to the Taj Mahal and all other monuments managed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will be free.

On Saturday, ahead of the International Day of Yoga, the Indian Embassy organized a mass yoga session at the iconic Washington Monument. The event drew hundreds of people.

Yoga Day at the United Nations

The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations had planned a Yoga Day celebration on the UN Headquarters’ North Lawn in New York, complete with a lecture and yoga demonstration. In addition, until July 1, a digital exhibition titled “The World of Yoga” will be on display at the UN delegates’ entrance.

The Prime Minister’s Yoga Awards

The Prime Minister’s award for outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of Yoga is being held at the Ayush ministry. It will take place on the MyGov platform, which is run by the government. The awards will be presented in two categories at the national level today.
