The Honda e:Ny1 joins the e:Np1 and e:Ns1 electric SUVs based on the HR-V.
Honda has unveiled the new e:Ny1 concept SUV, which will be available in North America and Europe first. The e:Ny1 appears to be a variant of the Honda e:Ns1 and e:Np1 electric SUVs, both of which will be available in China soon.
- e:N will be Honda’s naming style for electric SUVs
- e:Ny1 is the third of the e:N series models showcased so far
- All three SUVs are based on the latest-gen Honda HR-V
The new Honda e:Ny1 SUV is the third model in the e:N SUV series, which debuted in China last year with the previous two models. All three models appear to be based on the latest-generation Honda HR-V, which is now on sale in a number of international regions.

The new e:Ny1 SUV will be built on Honda’s newly developed e:N Architecture F platform, which the company claims was designed specifically for the new model. The platform, on the other hand, is likely to be employed in a variety of future models due to economies of scale. The e:N Series will feature an architecture “designed particularly for EVs” – a stretched version of the Honda E platform – and will provide a “sporty and thrilling driver experience,” according to the firm.
What are The Honda e:N Models?
Honda’s new electric car lineup, which was previously believed to be limited to China, will now be available in more regions across the world. Honda’s new e:N Series branding will be used on all new electric SUVs.
The letter ‘e’ in the name refers to the company’s e:Technology brand, while the letter ‘N’ stands for now and next, and indicates “new value creation for the next-generation of mobility.”
Honda’s Chinese joint ventures, Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda, will sell the first two e:N models, the e:Ns1 and e:Np1, which are sibling automobiles based on the new HR-V. Both are set to hit stores in the spring of 2022. The third, known as the e:Ny1, will be released a bit later in markets such as Europe and North America, among others.
The e:Ns1 and e:Np1 are evolutions of Honda’s e:Prototype SUV, which debuted at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show. Despite the blanked-off façade for the electric car, the production versions feature five doors instead of three, and the links to the HR-V are more evident. The e: Ny1 prototype SUV appears to have a similar design, but with a few outward differences.
Honda had previously exhibited the e:N Coupé, e:N SUV, and e:N GT, which it aims to utilise as the basis for production cars in the next five years, in addition to the e: series of SUVs. Compared to the e:NS1 and e:NP1, these motorcycles have more aggressive and striking electric-only aesthetics.
Honda has a Presence in India
Honda is preparing to launch the City Hybrid in India in the coming months, which might become the country’s most fuel-efficient petrol vehicle. Following that, the corporation is working on an India-specific midsize SUV, which is set to debut in our market in 2023. It will be built on the City’s basis and may even borrow some of the car’s powertrain options.
