GWM Grants Over 1000 New Patents for Energy Vehicles: Report

GWM has opened 1,301 new energy vehicle patents and authorized 914 patents this year, placing it first among Chinese vehicle companies.

According to recent data released by AutoPat, Chinese privately-owned automobile manufacturer Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. (GWM) filed over 1,000 new energy vehicle technology patents last year.

GWM has opened 1,301 new energy vehicle patents and authorized 914 patents this year, placing it first among Chinese vehicle companies.

According to the report, since GWM took the lead, the number of patents open to the market by Chinese finished vehicle enterprises has increased rapidly, catching up with or even surpassing foreign-funded vehicle enterprises in the Chinese market.

The L.E.M.O.N. DHT technology was developed by the automaker to speed up the iteration and upgrading of new energy products. It is a highly integrated gasoline-electric hybrid system that is applicable to models with PHEV or HEV power architectures. Both architectures’ models can provide consumers with a longer, more powerful, and comfortable driving experience.

In Thailand, the Chinese automaker also introduced the Haval Jolion HEV and Haval H6 HEV. The two models, which are supported by the L.E.M.O.N. DHT, can meet low fuel consumption requirements in a variety of road conditions. During rush hour, if drivers encounter traffic congestion, the system can switch to electric power to reduce fuel consumption.

Electric drives and electric controls are among the company’s technological achievements in the pure electronic vehicle field. The L-type long battery cells, for example, have been successfully applied to various models of the ORA brand in the Chinese market.

GWM now follows the principle of “Excessive Investment and Precise R&D.” Last year, GWM invested CNY 9.07 billion in R&D of new energy and intelligent technologies, according to the GWM financial report for 2022.
