Forthcoming Census Will Be First Digital Census: Home Ministry

Minister of State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Wednesday knowledgeable the Rajya Sabha that the forthcoming Census would be the first-ever digital Census within the nation.

In a written reply to the query of BJP MP Roopa Ganguly, Mr Rai stated that the forthcoming Census is to be the primary digital Census and there’s a provision for self-enumeration. A cellular app for the gathering of knowledge and a Census portal for administration and monitoring of varied Census-related actions have been developed.

He knowledgeable the House that Census 2021 and different Census-related area actions have been postponed till additional orders as a result of outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March, the Centre introduced that it has determined to conduct Census 2021 in two phases — the Houselisting and Housing Census throughout April-September 2020 and the Population Enumeration throughout February 9 to twenty-eight, 2021.
