An FIR has been lodged in opposition to Congress MLA from Barkagaon, Amba Prasad, for allegedly obstructing law enforcement officials from discharging their duties at Katkamdag police station in Jharkhand, a prime officer stated on Thursday.
The police filed the FIR in opposition to the lawmaker for forcibly getting into the police station on June 29 and pressurising the personnel to launch eight tractors that had been seized as a part of a drive in opposition to unlawful sand mining, stated Karthik S, a senior police official of Hazaribag.
The tractors had been parked outdoors the premises of the police station.
The Congress is a part of the JMM-led authorities within the state.
Besides Ms Prasad, FIR has additionally been filed in opposition to homeowners of the eight tractors and 17 others for allegedly making a ruckus on the police station, the senior official stated.
The senior official stated police had seized the tractors after Barkagaon circle officer Birendra Kumar had lodged an FIR at Katkamdag police station in opposition to unlawful mining in Dhengura forest which violated guidelines laid down by the National Green Tribunal.
Later, the MLA met the senior police official and submitted a written criticism alleging police misbehaviour along with her.
The senior officer has forwarded the criticism to the Mahila thana police station of Hazaribag city with instructions to deal with it as an FIR.
