Father Mahesh Bhatt Reveals That Alia Bhatt Was The Inspiration For SRK ‘s ‘Duplicate’

Mahesh Bhatt is a well-known director who is known for his gritty realism and hard-hitting films. ‘Sadak,’ ‘Sir,’ and ‘Criminal’ were all critically acclaimed films in the 1990s. After a successful run in the serious film genre, the filmmaker decided to take a different path and direct the masala comedy ‘Duplicate.’ Shah Rukh Khan was overjoyed with his dual role in ‘Duplicate’ in the early days of his career.

During one of his early interviews while filming the Mahesh Bhatt-directed film, the actor publicly admitted that he needed at least 5-10 years of acting experience to do justice to a role like that. SRK even admitted that he accepted a double role sooner than he should have because it came to him faster than he expected.

According to News18, Mahesh Bhatt said in an interview, “It’s a film that I am looking forward to showing my children,” implying that his previous films were too violent or dark for children. The director expressed his desire to impress Alia Bhatt, who was only four at the time. “Normally, children are not impressed by their parents. “I’m hoping to impress my four-year-old daughter Alia with Duplicate,” he said.

Despite his best efforts, Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Sonali Bendre’s 1998 film ‘Duplicate,’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Sonali Bendre, failed to make an impact at the box office.

Shah Rukh Khan, who debuted in 1992, has reigned supreme as Bollywood’s Baadshah for nearly two decades. SRK remains one of the world’s most adored and admired actors, despite a few box office flops.

On the other hand, destiny has its own game to play. When SRK appeared in ‘Duplicate,’ Alia Bhatt was four years old. They had no idea that a few years later, in Dear Zindagi, they would collaborate.

Furthermore, the film was produced by Karan Johar’s father, Yash Johar, and SRK’s compensation was reduced when it was labelled a flop. Despite the two-year delay, seeing the star in a dual role was well worth the wait, and the film continues to be well-received by SRK’s fan base.

Alia Bhatt, dubbed “the best young actress of her generation,” has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films, including “Highway,” “Raazi,” “Udta Punjab,” and others, with upcoming projects including “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” “Brahmastra,” “RRR,” and “Jee Le Zara.”
