Everyone warned Shahid Kapoor not to choose the film ‘Jersey’

After one remake (Kabir Singh), Shahid Kapoor stated that he did not want to do another. So he began looking for another project, but the ‘Jersey’ storey lingered in his mind, and he eventually decided to pursue it.

On December 31st, actor Shahid Kapoor will return to the big screen with the highly anticipated film ‘Jersey.’ Mrunal Thakur plays Shahid Kapoor’s wife, and Pankaj Kapur plays his mentor in the film.

Following the success of ‘Kabir Singh,’ the actor chose this film, which featured Nani at the time, as his next project. Following the box office success of his Hindi version of ‘Arjun Reddy,’ the actor revealed in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama that many people warned him that it wasn’t the right subject to choose.

After one remake (Kabir Singh), Shahid Kapoor stated that he did not want to do another. So he went on the hunt for a new project, but Jersey’s storey stayed with him and he eventually decided to pursue it. “I’m usually very intuitive about how I feel about a film, and it all starts when I’m shooting it.

Everyone after Kabir Singh told me I shouldn’t do this film, and I’ve always believed it. I went out and asked a lot of people because I had never had a big success before. So I was at a loss for what to do. I’m not experienced enough, so if you’ve had success in your career after 3-4 years, you’ll know how to handle the situation. However, when you achieve success after 15-16 years, you are unsure of what to do, how this occurred, or what should occur now and in the future. I asked around, and everyone said I shouldn’t do something similar, like play a college guy, or a lover boy, or an action film, or an aggressive character “According to Shahid Kapoor.

“This [Jersey] was something I saw literally a week before Kabir Singh’s release, and it moved me so much that I wanted to do it. For three months, everyone told me that this was not the right subject for me, and I looked into it. I looked for something else because I thought it was possible that everyone was correct. But nothing appealed to me. This topic had stayed with me for a long time. I didn’t want to do another remake after another remake. I’ve done over 30 films and a lot of original work as an actor, so it’s not something you want to do. It’s not ideal because when you’re doing a remake somewhere, you’re aware that it’s a remake; it’s not original in the sense that you have to make it your own and fresh. You must come up with a new version of the same storey, as we did with Kabir Singh. But it stuck with me, and what this storey says is true “”, said the actor.

“Now that I’m a father and 40 years old, I’ve seen a lot of life, and this was one of the most touching stories I’ve ever heard. It hit me so hard on this subject, what this storey means, what Jersey stands for, and the husband and wife’s interpersonal dynamics. How do you feel when you’re in love for the first time? How many years have you been married? How does it feel to be a parent? What exactly does it mean to be a man? How does it feel to be a husband? There was so much in this film that moved me that I felt compelled to do it “Added he.

Allu Aravind presents the film, which is directed by National Award-winning director Gowtam Tinnanuri and produced by Aman Gill, Dil Raju, and S Naga Vamsi.
