Dinesh Karthik’s Blast in the Final Over has Supporters Ecstatic

With tail-ender Harshal Patel on the other end, Dinesh Karthik hit an unbeaten 30 off 21 deliveries, taking India to a competitive total.

After a great showing with the bat in the first match, the Men in Blue were unable to repeat their performance as the action relocated from New Delhi to Cuttack. After being asked to bat first, the squad could only manage 148/6, with Shreyas Iyer’s 35-ball 40 finishing as the highest individual score from the Indian camp.

The Indian supporters, on the other hand, were ecstatic about Dinesh Karthik’s finishing abilities. With tail-ender Harshal Patel on the other end, the 37-year-old hit an unbeaten 30 off 21 deliveries, helping India to a decent total.

Karthik got off to a poor start in his innings, but it was the two massive sixes he hit against Dwaine Pretorius in the penultimate over that drew everyone’s attention. In fact, when India ran out of overs, Karthik had only managed to score 9 runs in the first 16 deliveries he faced, while collecting another 21 runs in the next five balls.

Harshal Patel (12 not out from nine balls) kept him company as the duo increased India’s run rate by putting together 36 runs in the last three overs to provide some relief.

With the exception of a 45-run second-wicket stand between Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, the Indian hitters struggled.
