Deepak Chahar has a career batting average of 70.5 in six ODIs, with fifties against Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Deepak Chahar, a former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder, had to hold back tears as his rapid fifty against South Africa in the third One-Day International in Cape Town on Sunday (January 23) was in vain. Chahar hammered 54 off 34 balls with two sixes and five fours, but India fell four runs short of a 3-0 ODI series sweep against hosts South Africa.
Chahar’s second ODI fifty brought Team India within 10 runs of victory, but Chahar’s dismissal off the first ball of the 48th over wrecked the chase. When Chahar saw Yuzvendra Chahal’s final wicket, he was extremely distraught and his eyes were moist.
In six ODIs, Chahar has an average of 70.5 with the bat, including fifties against Sri Lanka and South Africa. He has an outstanding strike-rate of 102.17 with a top-score of 69 not out against Sri Lanka in 2021.
